I'd be happy to change LDconfig in the next update.  My personal LDConfig_alt
already has Dark_Tan corrected (though it might need more red):

In my opinion, there are several of these older colors that should be changed;
even if just slightly.  However, unless it is more than just my opinion they
will have to stay the same.

If you (or anyone else) has an opinion on which colors don't look right, please
say so here!

I think dark tan is so far wrong in the official file that it's in desperate
need of a correction. It looks much closer to the color Bricklink refers to as
medium dark flesh, which appeared in some of the Prince of Persia sets. That has
a rich orangish tone, whereas actual dark tan is a bit darker and has much less
saturation. IMO your alt file has it exactly right. I do think there's logic in
keeping one file for instruction colors and one for render colors, but if
nothing else the hue should be correct.

I used your LDConfig_alt file the last time I tried any rendering though and
that's much better, although I think in that file dark brown (308) actually
looks much better using the regular ldconfig version. The original dark brown is
#352100, and your alt file is #493400 which seems too much brighter to me and
also has the hue shifted a little more toward a yellow hue. I suspect that both
are too yellow, but I can tell you for sure that the alt version looked way off
in my render.
