I understand that it would be preferable for the entire LDraw parts library to
have consistent and defined vertex winding. However, I think you are a little
harsh on the progress that has been made since that was recognised as a
necessary feature for LDraw parts. In the current official parts library of 3318
files, 2154 have a valid BFC CERTIFY statement - thats almost 65% - hardly "a
small minority of parts".
Several part authors have spent consicerable time, over the past few years,
reworking many of the parts that pre-date the inclusion of the "BFC CERTIFY"
statement in the file specification. Please don't undervalue their efforts.
