here is a picture of a torso i plan to do, my question is shoult i dither the
red and yellow, or should i just make a red, orange and yellow ring?

the dithered section would be an example for an acceptable usage of bmp2dat (a
prog I don't like because of its bumpy output). therefore I would vectorize
surfboard, wave and outer ring and use bmp2dat for the sunset.
