In general, I'd recommend people use the old color codes for the new 'flavors'. In
cases where people need to differentiate between the old colors and the new colors,
they should investigate MLCAD's and LDLite's custom color options.
For somewhat graceful LDraw-compatibility, people can derive new color codes by
adding 64 to the standard color codes. So:
New gray: 7 + 64 = 71
New dk gray: 8 + 64 = 72
New brown: 6 + 64 = 70
In LDraw/LEdit, these new codes should render in the same colors as the original
codes. Unfortunately, not all programs handle these 'custom codes' in the same way.
MLCAD seems to force all colors between 32 and 255 to be transparent, and L3Lab
throws an error on codes it doesn't recognize. So these derived codes really only
work for LDLite/L3P and maybe LDView.
Once we've established a permanent color definition facility, we will be able to
react more quickly to new/changing colors.
