Hi Jan:
I'm also developing an application for trackplans, only for the PC: http://www.trackdraw.com Track Designer is another PC application that has LEGO track models: http://www.ngltc.org/train_depot/td.htm
There are a number of LEGO train-systems. They include:
- 4.5V or 12V / gray or blue (no longer in production)
- 9V (in current production)
- monorail (no longer in production)
- racers (in current production)
- Duplo (not sure of production status)
LEGO layouts also treat road baseplates as part of the layout.
Some of the track pieces have been modeled in 3D in LDraw, and have very precise
specifications: http://www.ldraw.org
I hope this helps
Cary
