Everyone -
We are having an absolute blast at SIGGRAPH 2003! (www.siggraph.org/s2003). We
hundreds, if not thousands coming by the booth throughout the day, and some even
took time out of their schedules to sit with us and build! The tables are like a
frikkin magnet! People can't walk by without stopping and at least smiling, and
reminiscing about when they were kids playing with LEGO.

We also have a couple computers set up demonstrating the LDraw tools. The most
heard comment at this event is "I never knew there were LEGO CAD tools!" (sound
familiar, train guys?) We're getting to talk to people from ILM, DreamWorks,
professors, students, and the press about the great array of LEGO CAD tools and
the adult LEGO community. (clubs all over the world -- look out for new members
coming soon!)

At any given time we have several LEGO sculptures and sets being built by
conference attendees. Our centerpiece is a 10' long dithered "SIGGRAPH 2003"
logotype. The crowd blew through over half of the letters in the first day!
We're also building Star Wars sets courtesy of LucasFilm. We have the Star
Destroyer in progress, and Yoda came together yesterday. Waiting (with people
eager to start building them) are the Rebel Blockade Runner and Darth Maul bust.

Today we're going to set up a train loop too :-)

For any of you in the San Diego area, come on down to this amazing event and
help us man the booth. We have plenty of help, but the more, the merrier! We're
in the Sails (the large "soft-ceiling" room on the top floor) of the San Diego
Convention Center on Harbor Drive. Access to that portion of the convention is
free.

Tomorrow (Tuesday), Steve Barile, John Gramley, and I are presenting a session
on the array of LDraw tools in the Green Room of the adjacent Marriott Hotel &
Marina. 3:30-5:00 PM. Steve and I have been working hard at the presentation
together we hope to attract some new talent to the LDraw community from this
rich pool of computer graphics experts. No conference registration required to
come to the session - so if you want to learn about LDraw (again) :-) and are in
the area come on down!

Hope to see you there!

-Tim

(...) I just want to know how many tshirts you've gotten so far. I attended Siggraph a couple of years ago in New Orleans and left with about 15. Enjoy! (21 years ago, 29-Jul-03, to lugnet.events, lugnet.cad)
