(...) I think that making good photos is the best way. You need a camera with good optical zoom, make your photos directly in front of head, and from a distance to minimize field of view. The technique I've been using to make minifig torsos can be extended to heads, but I have one critical problem that I haven't been able to figure out yet: Before tracing an image, I need an image that is facing the camera head-on. WOW!! I am surprised the scanned results are usable /AT ALL/!!!! I'm generally completely skeptical about technology's ability to perform such tasks. I.e. almost 100% of the time a human operator is what is needed to achieve usable results. (...) (14 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

(...) I think that many of the POV-Ray colors were tuned by the All-In-One Installer from LDraw.org. These are tuned for rendering. The LDconfig.ldr is not tuned for rendering. It is meant for creating building instructions. For this reason, I have (...) (14 years ago, 18-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.ray)

I've been trying to use the fastrad.inc script with scenes generated by the new version (1.4) of L3P that supports LDConfig.ldr. However, the results are not nearly as attractive as they were with older versions of L3P. Anyone have an idea of what (...) (14 years ago, 18-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.ray)
