Re: My First few NXT MOCs

Sorry for replying to myself... Bummer, I thought the folder was public. It was before I added the NXT stuff. Seems like it is taking longer than normal to go public. I guess the wait is on (again).   My First few NXT MOCs

Hi Folks, It's been a while since I posted anything on LUGNET. I have been working on keeping my wife and life ready for our new baby. Which should be born in a day or so. Over the past couple of months I managed to grab a few moments and build (...) (18 years ago, 1-May-06, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.cad, lugnet.org.us.texlug, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

My first NXT MOC - Rooster - a biped

Hi All, Well, it has been hard to keep quit, but now I don't have to! Here is my one big creation using my advanced version of the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT set. (URL) Rooster is a two legged walker that can walk forwards and backwards, and turn right or (...) (18 years ago, 1-May-06, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.cad)

Re: complete.txt out of date in complete updates

(...) The current complete.exe and complete.zip have been updated, and I have amended the release instructions to ensure this is done with future parts updates. Chris (18 years ago, 1-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Tyre (tire) nomenclature

(...) Also lugnet.db.brictionary ;) (...) I support the idea of standardised names for tyres - I would probably vote for millimetres, as that would match better with the most of the ones molded by TLC. And I would further suggest that wheel (...) (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.parts, lugnet.db.brictionary, FTX)

  Re: Tyre (tire) nomenclature

(...) Point taken - thanks. (...) The curious case of 33029 was discussed here (URL) with a good argument to stick with "system scale" for Scala parts. (...) Chris (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.parts)

  Re: Tyre (tire) nomenclature

(...) (ahem) That might work better with crossposting to, say, lugnet.parts or lugnet.cad.dat.parts, instead of hiding the discussion in .cad. . . (...) To clarify: that includes "local" units, i.e., stud and brick height measurements are relative (...) (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.parts)

  Re: Tyre (tire) nomenclature

(...) I think standardization is a great idea. I'd like to see this discussion reach other "keepers of lego part names", at least for feedback. I don't expect that a consensus would be reached. For the units, I think millimeters would be better than (...) (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Tyre (tire) nomenclature

(...) I support this general notion, would like to see everything in LDU and think the original molded description should go in KEYWORDS (perhaps with a qualifyer "molded" or something?) ~~~~ (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Tyre (tire) nomenclature

--SNIP-- (...) Hi Chris, I really think LDU units should be used no matter the system. (Almost?) everything else uses them so it would be much less confusing. Tim (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

  Tyre (tire) nomenclature

Mike Heidemann and others make a good point here (URL) about qualifying the LDraw descriptions for tyres. Current commercial nomenclature follows an ISO standard (see for example (URL)) typically using Width"/"AspectRatio"...mDiameter, where (...) (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New parts - missing stud2b and stud4b

(...) [trimmed] (...) Thanks - I updated them to use stud2. (...) I updated your part to use a 4LDu cylinder, the stud4a primitive (underside ring stud without the edge lines) and added the outer edge line separately. Chris (18 years ago, 30-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Question for a BrickJournal article..

Re: Question for a BrickJournal article.. JJMA

(...) Thanks for hunting the info down Chris. Maybe there should be an article on ldraw.org that gets updated each year? There currently seems to be mention of the 2001 & 2005 awards, but in different places, it would be nice to keep it all together (...) (18 years ago, 28-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New parts - missing stud2b and stud4b

(...) when i created the parts, i believe i intended to use stud2.dat just change the file reference to stud2 and stud4. ill look into the stud4a and stud2a on my computer, i have 1000's of unofficial parts and subparts here, when i made the part in (...) (18 years ago, 28-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)

  LDraw definition of non-functional

(...) Thank you for supporting our efforts to minimise the parts library "bloat" by not asking for this duplication of basic parts. In this case there is nothing to prevent LDraw modellers from placing a plume where it could fit into the tiny hole (...) (18 years ago, 28-Apr-06, to lugnet.cad)
