(...) What you are describing is in fact a very old and basic edge rendering algorithm, which can be found in most detailed textbooks on computer graphics.   LPub vertical plate murk
 
I'm using LPub for a project and have been perplexed a bit by the image quality difference between rendering the "Complete Assembly" vs the "Instruction Images". Thanks for your suggestions, the message I received is: "Yes, a good and useful translator would be appreciated."
