Ken, this sounds like a bug in MLCad. I'll investigate that. The other point is that the next version of MLCad will support the offical color definitions based on the LDraw.org color standard. In the mean time you can do the following (so far I (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jul-04, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

(...) I haven't found the part yet, but I've found the sister spacewalk brick and examined it. If you flip the brick over you can clearly see that it's not quite smooth.
