While creating some models that use this part as a non bulb covering, I've noticed two problems with it 1) the dome top is too squashed - while not a perfect sphere it is not as flat as the current part 2) the part is too short - the real one is (...) Here's a part from the Pat Pend era I found in an old LEGO lot newly purchased. It is black and there are traces from a blue part glued on top of it.
