Hey guys,
It looks good! Thanks for linking VignetteBricks, btw. A couple of suggestions:

As Nathan said, youre welcome.

Pics. Youve probably already got this in mind, but I like how some of the
sidebars (e.g. space, castle, adventurers) feature a thumbnail of a recently
posted MOC, that rotates on a relatively regular basis.

Nathan is the man! ...and will be taking care of this going forward! :)
|
FAQ. I suppose Im old fashioned ;), but in my day we thought of vignettes
as being squares 8x8 or smaller. Your size chart includes sizes and shapes
that I would personally not call vignettes.
|
(receives look from Nathan) In your day? This building style has really only
caught on around the past 6 months or so! :)
Anyway, our intent is simply to promote vignette building. Like the FAQ says,
those sizes are just guidelines, nothing more. By providing various sizes, we
hope to encourage more people to try building vignettes, and we hope to see more
vignettes of different sizes soon!
|
Galleries. Its cool how many you found. Ill have to go through these in
depth as I think there are some Ive not seen before. I could probably help
you replace some of the brickshelf ids with real names if youd like.
|
Thanks to Nathan for putting this list together. Yes, we could use your help
with the names. The Galleries page will be an ongoing thing - we want to keep
this a complete list of vignette builders and their work. We would really like
to emphasize the Galleries of vignette builders, so we may enhance the page
with a section for builders who have a single website, Brickshelf folder, etc.,
of their vignettes.

Timeline. I dont mean to sound overly partisan, and I suspsect that maybe
you were both trying to go out of your way to not sound partisan, but I would
think its important to note that my initial vignette posting really sparked
other vignette builders on Classic-Castle first, then this spread to FBTB.
It was really only after that that vignettes took a stronger hold here on
Lugnet. Perhaps I would change A series of subsequent vignettes are posted.
to A series of subsequent vignettes are posted on Lugnet and in other AFOL
forums, including Classic-Castle and FBTB. Also, in the pre-history, there
were other vignettes outside of the Japanese AFOL community. In particular,
I found pics of great trophies created for the Space room at one of the
Brickfests, including this one by Aaron Sneary. Frustratingly, Brickshelf is up and down right
now, so I cant find the others. >:( Also in the prehistory, as you note in
the FAQ, the official SW storyteller sets were technically vignettes, albeit
particularly lame and lifeless ones, IMO.
|
(receives another look from Nathan) Thanks for the input. The timeline is really
meant to keep track of how things have developed as seen on LUGNET. (If we
missed an important milestone or building technique, and anyone can refer to the
specific LUGNET post, please let us know.) Those space trophies should be added
to the Galleries page under their respective builders names.
Thats cool (if we dont crash Brickshelf!)
I think weve made a good start here. There are a few other surprises in the
works, too.
