I think you are misunderstanding Ryan's post. "The pillars extend 3 studs out
from the base" - meaning: each pillar extends three studs out.
And whether the vig fits with the rule ("3.Your vignette must have a maximum
base-size of 8x8 studs...Parts can extend beyond the base, but not by more than
4 studs.") is really up to the judges to decide.
Personally, I think it would be best to email the judges privately about your
concerns and to not go into great depth why you think a particular entry should
be disqualified. As you mentioned, it makes it look like you are trying to
eliminate competition.
And back to Ryan's MOC - I think it is funny! Well done!
