  I'm melting!

(Blatently) inspired by (URL) Eric Harshbarger's snowman>, I wanted to create a centerpiece for a Christmas party I'm attending later this week. However, I discovered I didn't have enough white 2 x 2 corner plates, so I couldn't even finish the back (...)   "I fear you more than any spectre I have seen..."

"The Spirit stood among the graves, and pointed down to One. He advanced towards it trembling. The Phantom was exactly as it had been, but he dreaded that he saw new meaning in its solemn shape... Still the Ghost pointed downward to the grave by (...) (19 years ago, 10-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.vignette)

Come in! Come in and know me better, man!

Oh, a wonderful pudding! Bob Cratchit said, and calmly too, that he regarded it as the greatest success achieved by Mrs Cratchit since their marriage. Mrs Cratchit said that now the weight was off her mind, she would confess she had had her doubts (...) (19 years ago, 8-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.vignette)

Expect the first to-morrow, when the bell tolls One...

Although they had but that moment left the school behind them, they were now in the busy thoroughfares of a city, where shadowy passengers passed and repassed; where shadowy carts and coaches battle for the way, and all the strife and tumult of a (...)   "Marley was dead..."

"...it came on through the heavy door, and passed into the room before his eyes. Upon its coming in, the dying flame leaped up, as though it cried, ``I know him! Marley's Ghost!'' and fell again. The same face: the very same. Marley in his pigtail, (...) (19 years ago, 7-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.vignette)

  Frodo Takes the Plunge...

Seems like the vignette craze has slowed down a little bit... I, myself, have been distracted by the CCC3. I have, however, been thinking about this vignette for a little while and threw it together tonight: "Don't look at the lights. There was a (...)   Sumo !!

(URL) (Many thanks to Mike Crowley (aka Count Blockula) for the (URL) BrickFA building technique>!) I've been pondering the idea for an Ozumo (Sumo) vignette for awhile now, and with Mike's technique, this has now happily come to be. Not only is (...)   Re: An "almost Joe Vig" time travel vignette.

(...) I was there then, *and* I'm here now, so I have time travelled in the opposite direction. It takes longer, and you grow old from doing it, but it's fun. :) I wouldn't enjoy going back to basic 1970's Lego either. I only miss those small (...)   Re: An "almost Joe Vig" time travel vignette.

(...) I like it! And the 'double time' scenario shows that Lego has really evolved. I'm not at all sure I like the 'good old days' better... (19 years ago, 25-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.vignette)

An "almost Joe Vig" time travel vignette.

Hi, Pictures are here: (URL) call this an "almost Joe Vig" vignette because I built it with the intent of entering it in a Joe Vig contest but I never got around to buying the proper pieces to build a "correct" Joe Vig minifig (on top of not having (...)   Re: New MOC: In The Archives

I like the chandelier (electric? gas globes? they're not candles) and the easel. A very heavy-duty easel, that is -- must be designed for volumes of the OED, not just piddly scrolls. :) It needs a spider crawling around the ceiling. And an (...)   Re: Rosa Parks 1913-2005

(...) Gary's right, and you can actually sit in the bus yourself, and even in the seat where Rosa Parks sat. I take my kids to the museum and the village several times a year and it never gets old. The village has many relocated historical (...) (19 years ago, 4-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, FTX)

  Re: Rosa Parks 1913-2005

Great, and timely, MOC Bruce! The single wheel is a little surreal but all in all the section bus concept is well executed. Thanks for sharing and God Bless, Nathan Visit my brickshelf gallery: (URL) (pic=link) (19 years ago, 3-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, FTX)

  Re: Rosa Parks 1913-2005

(...) Very nice Bruce! Here in Detroit I've been watching the funeral services on local TV all day. She lived most of the last 50 years in Detroit with her late husband Raymond. She was an inspiration to all of us. Ironically THE BUS is also here in (...) (19 years ago, 3-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, FTX)

  Re: Rosa Parks 1913-2005

(...) A moving tribute beautifully realized. It succeeds as both a historical commemoration and as a great example of the LEGO vignette style. The slice-through of the bus is very clever and well-executed. Thank you for posting this. (...) Please do (...) (19 years ago, 3-Nov-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, FTX)

  Rosa Parks 1913-2005

Hi all, Fifty years ago in a quiet act of bravery, Rosa Parks stood up for her rights by sitting down.   Re: New MOC: In The Archives

Hey Nate, Great little scene. I love the easel, especially, and that's a great use of the new printed tile. I also really liked how you did the windows of ever-increasing length - it really emphasizes the long axis of the model well. (URL) blogged> (...)
