  Another Classic Space Figure

Inspired by (URL) Anne's minifig sculpture>, I decided to build one of my own - in blue. I also added a flag per Adm. Giddens (URL) comment>. When he was done though, he looked a little lonely - so I built a companion from (URL) set 6802>. Pic 1 (...)   Re: MOC: Han Solo in Carbonite (life size)

(...) Iirc, I thought there was the outline of the cuffs in the carbonite connecting the hands. But it's been a long time since I watched eps 5 and 6 (21 years ago, 8-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.starwars)

Re: MOC: Han Solo in Carbonite (life size)

(...) That is freakin' fantasic. You've captured the pained expression remarkably well, and I particularly like how you did the hands. One thing I've always wondered about the ol' Hansicle though: When he was lowered into the pit his hands were (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.starwars)

Re: MOC: Han Solo in Carbonite (life size)

(...) Okay, that's just too cool. When you knock it over does it make the same bang the "real" one does? :-) Actually, a real question: does it stand on end? It'd take a lot less space that way and would make a cool permanent wall display. I hope (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite (life size)

(...) Thanks! Yes, it's very mobile and yes it's very stable. I don't know if I will ever take it apart, but I really don't have room for it so I might just put it on a market some day soon. We'll see. -Nathan (21 years ago, 7-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: MOC: Han Solo in Carbonite (life size)

(...) Thanks! I think I just wanted to make something that hadn't been done before. As for the internal structure, it's just a few cross beams used for support. Nothing special. I made the cross beams and sides separate pieces that can easily slide (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)

Re: MOC: Han Solo in Carbonite (life size)

(...) Thanks! It's not solid at all. There is the outside frame, and then an interior structure for support which is easily removable. The entire frame was built to be mobile and folds down (there are LEGO hinges on the inside) to smaller pieces. (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

(...) Wow, that's is just too cool. What the heck inspired you to make this thing life-size? What kind of internal structure did you use for it? Good work! Jason Spears | (URL) BrickCentral> | (URL) MichLUG> (21 years ago, 7-Jul-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)
