Actually, there is method to my madness, as far as colors go. 2nd Edition
Warhammer 40k had a codex(rulebook) that outlined the color schemes of a
given chapter. In this case the Blood Angels. Their scheme was red and
black, hence the red shoulder pad with black trim. Without getting too
insane, this scheme is carried out throughout the army, in varying
amounts(black field red trim for example). The only distinguishing piece of
armor between 2 units is the helmet color. Red for tactical, yellow for
assault, blue for devestators(ie big guns).
As you can see, this fairly simple color scheme fits well with lego colors.
The only downfall is the lack, or limited availability, of grey bricks. My
design of the barrel actually incorporates grey bricks, and includes flash
suppressors and all. I decided not to bother on this version, given my lack
of grey bricks.
