  Golden Gate Bridge, #3of 3

Here is my Golden Gate Bridge. I wanted this to be my first posting on Lugnet but Eric posted his a few days before I was going to post, so I held off. The bridge took me almost 2 years and two trips back home to San Francisco to complete. I was so (...)   Re: MEK Dispenser for glueing Lego?

(...) Thanks, but this is way too pricy for my needs! :) For a gooey approach, I think I may go with an old Elmer's Glue squeeze dispenser filled with Oatey's glue. or For the thin stuff (straight MEK) I wonder if an exposed 1" x 2" x .5" dense (...)   Re: Oil Lamp - MOC

Sweet - especially the use of the slopes to smooth out the curves. Also like your greek urn. Do you mind if I copy your circle template for my next sculptural MOC? Mark (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

  Re: Oil Lamp - MOC

(...) Thanks for the kind words. I like this size and type of sculpture as well because it's easy for non-LEGO fans to relate to. I enjoy the challenges of making curved surfaces, and in this case I'm also happy with the use of slopes to enhance the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: MEK Dispenser for glueing Lego?

(...) Loctite makes a bottle top mounted Peristaltic Hand Pump: (URL) for industrial use, hence the price. There are also several dispenser manufacturers around for pneumatically acuated syringe dispensers. Again, these are industrial products... (...)   Re: MEK Dispenser for glueing Lego?

Ok, given how nasty this stuff is, is there anything else you recommend that isn't so nasty? I have one mosiac I need to glue together; otherwise, they'll be no way on either to get it to travel (and we have to move soon :(..). Thanks, -Anne (...)   Re: Oil Lamp - MOC

(...) Yes, the spout is hollow all the way through. The "vase" is my greek urn that I made a couple years ago. More details of it are at: (URL) (22 years ago, 27-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: MEK Dispenser for glueing Lego?

Hi Will! When I was at Legoland, I was so surprised to learn that they used MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) as a "glue"! I used to use MEK to clean the screens used in silkscreen printing. MEK is some NASTY stuff! Extremely flammable and you don't want to (...) (22 years ago, 27-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

  Re: Oil Lamp - MOC

(...) Great work. I love smaller sized sculptures like this. They give the rest of us hope that we too can make a sculpture of some kind. :) As well, I'm always glad to see 'other' types of LEGO models. That is something other than another spaceship (...)   Re: Oil Lamp - MOC

Very nice. I always like 1:1 scale models. The pair of them look good next to that vase on top of your piano. One question--is the spout hollow all the way through? Bruce (22 years ago, 26-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

  MEK Dispenser for glueing Lego?

I am tired of my lego sculptures being knocked to the floor by the antics of my rambuctious sons. My 1:1 scale Miniland reproduction figure ((URL) has fallen a number of times, and it is not easy to rebuild! :) Instead of placing them in a cabinet, (...)   #2 of 3 San Francisco landmarks, Sunol Water Temple

Here is #2 of 3…. For those who aren’t from the bay-area here is a piece you probably haven’t seen. This is the Sunol water temple located in Sunol Ca, a very small town southeast of San Francisco. Famed San Francisco architect Willis Polk, who (...) (22 years ago, 24-Nov-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.disney, lugnet.announce)

Re: LEGO Sculpture: Golden Gate Bridge

We were at Legoland CA over the weekend... The main cables ARE made from 2x2 round bricks, and the vertical cables use 1x1 round bricks. BTW, they've already started decorating Miniland for the holidays. A large Christmas tree was set up at (...) (22 years ago, 18-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

  TransAmerica Building

I hope this goes through. I'm new at Lugnet so stay with me. I posted this once and was told I should post it in other areas. So that's what I'm doing. Enjoy. Well here is 1 of 3 San Francisco landmarks I've done. The TransAmerica Building in San (...) (22 years ago, 17-Nov-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.announce) !

Re: LEGO Sculpture: Golden Gate Bridge

(...) Eric- As always, simply splendid! I'm always amazed at what you do with comparatively basic bricks. Someday perhaps I can see some of this in the ABS, one of these days. Thanks for bringing joy to me here in seemingly LEGOless Africa. best LFB (22 years ago, 14-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO Sculpture: Golden Gate Bridge

(...) Heh. I don't feel so bad. The GGB was the first MOC I tried (very unsuccessfully) about 4 years ago. I stopped when I realised how many bricks I would need :) Now, I'm trying other projects, but even my largest one is only 3,000+ pieces :) (...) (22 years ago, 13-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

(...) ROSCO PS: If you want more landmarks, you could always have my bridge too 8?) but you'd have to pay for the shipping 8?P (22 years ago, 12-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

I'm not sure I remember correctly, but I believe the main cables are made from 2x2 round bricks... I can't remember what the vertical cables are. eric (...) (22 years ago, 12-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

I grew up in and around the Bay Area, so for me, this is really nice to see. Good for you, it looks great. Eric Sophie (22 years ago, 12-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO Sculpture: Golden Gate Bridge

I'm stunned. Really nice work. And a remarkably simple and elegant solution to the cables. Wow. Beautiful. Joe Meno (22 years ago, 12-Nov-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)
