Re: Gomgile; The GG Mech, a Grey - Green Biomechanoid.

Congrats. It's nice to see the big guy done. Simply, well, woof. I gotta know, what kind of stresses are on this beast? I've found that the bigger I go, I think I'm pushing the limits of Lego shearing factors. How heavy is it? How transportable? (...)   Re: STATUE OF LIBERTY ?!

(...) I was going to order one too, but not knowing that it was about to go AWOL, I decided to go for a Metroliner instead. Grrrr! :-) Well, Brad, I'd definitely buy one if it was available again... regards, Chris. (23 years ago, 27-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.general)

  Re: STATUE OF LIBERTY ?!

(...) They are gone, unfortunatley. I was just about to order mine and it had disapeared from lego.com. I was able to get one, however, for my local FAO Schwartz. To get one, check your local FAO or amazon.com (if they still have any). (23 years ago, 26-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.general)

  Re: STATUE OF LIBERTY ?!

(...) As unfortunate as it may be, Brad Justus of LD announced (amongst much good news) that... "As it happened, the sales of these items has been so great the past few weeks that we have depleted our stocks. We were not planning on re-manufacturing (...)   STATUE OF LIBERTY ?!

Heya all ! What happened with Statue of Liberty on LEGO S&H website ??? I can't find it! It seems that it's no more available ! Where can I buy now this set ? Thanks. Rene (23 years ago, 26-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.general)

  Re: Snowman Sculpture

(...) I basically did it all on Friday. Probably around 8-10 hours or so. I'm getting pretty adept at doing circular objects in sculpture, so it didn't really take me that long at all to do the ball shapes.   Re: Snowman Sculpture

(...) How cool! How long did it take you do it ... ? -- Pawel (23 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.fun.holiday)

  Snowman Sculpture

Quick on the toes of my A-10 comes this cute little sculpture. It's a snowman. Find it on the sculpture page, and enjoy! Adrian -- www.brickfrenzy.com (23 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.fun.holiday, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build) !

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) It sure does--thanks to all. I just needed a graphic explanation of how the engine stroked. :) I've always passed Angelucci up, only because he goes for breadth over depth. But for comparative discussion that's more valuable, no doubt about (...) (23 years ago, 20-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) I have two great books I found at Borders Books a few weeks ago. They are the "Illustrated Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft" and "Illustrated Encyclopedia of Civil Aircraft" both by Enzo Angelucci. Between these two books they have most every (...)   Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) Try this link, (URL) . I did a search on Gnome rotary, as that was the most famous one I can think of. In short, the cylinders and crankcase rotate around the hollow, offcenter crankshaft. The intake valve is in the bottom of the piston, and (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) Try "radial engine" or "radial rotary engine" the more correct term for the engine type in your search. Best DaveG (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) I've been trying to find a diagram of the old rotary engine, but searches always bring up the Wankel engine, which isn't nearly the same thing. I'm trying to get a sense for how much of the engine rotated, and how fuel delivery was done if the (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) If the engine spins with the propellor, then it is a rotary engine, and it is correct, see this link for more detail, (URL) . In reality, the rotary engine packed so much torque that inexperience pilots routinely crashed flying the Camel. (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) Wasn't this an intentional part of the design? I had thought that the radial engines of that era rotated around a central shaft just like the model. Mike (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) Yes, particuarily if you like the model. Does it have good peices? yes, particuarily for black little 1x1 rounds with flanged ends. This set has two, they make the gun barrel ends. Like the ones in the harry potter sets only not orange. Also (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) Yes, yes, yes, and YES! The Sopwith Camel is a great set, and a joy to build. Adrian (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

  Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

Is it worth getting? Does it have good peices? Just wanted to know before I make my Christmas list.. :-) Thanx, <<Joel>> (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture)
