This is a useful technique I and others have used before, but in this case
it isnt actually necessary. Try putting a technic 1x1 brick with a half
pin in it, or a dalek brick (1x1 brick with studs on all sides) on top of
the laid-down headlight brick. Youll find you can fit an ordinary 1x2
plate to the side, perfectly fitting over the two studs.
The only reason for using a tile here is to get the smooth surface. You can
just as easily fit a 1x4 tile or larger, which do have tubes.

Im not sure but I think theres a misunderstanding there. (Ive been not
precise enough)
There are two tiles and if the one in the side (SNOT mounted) of the engine
has no offset, the one stud up has a 0.4 stud offset relatively to the
clear brick. (from the picture, im not able to read the ldr file) which
prevent from using a plate (or in other words, this building is possible
thanks to non-tubed tiles).

Right, I can see it now. Its the tile on top thats offset a little because
the stud its on (the transparent brick) isnt in a natural position.
Of course, it would probably have been simpler to use two clear 1x2 plates with
a tile on top, and mount the whole lot on its side. That would give you a
taller window, too.
