On Saturday, July 10th, a new LEGO store opened in Bellevue, Washington, at the
Bellevue Square Mall.  The doors opened at 9:30am to an enthusiastic crowd who
rushed in to explore the pristine store.

Thanks to the fan outreach program of Jake McKee and promotions expert Brandy
Gossett, several NW area LEGO fans were on hand throughout the day to assist
with a public assembly of a Spider Man 2 Mosaic, to assist children of all ages
at two building tables and to display fan-created models.

The 3'x4' SpiderMan mosaic was built twice throughout the day by various members
of the public.  The first mosaic build took about two hours to build, then was
painstakingly disassembled so that an afternoon crowd could re-build the mosaic
and join in on the fun.  The final mosaic is presently on display in the store
window.

To the delight of both the public and AFOLs, store personnel distributed
commemorative bricks--and for the smallest fans-- various DUPLO figures
(non-commemorative).

Not surprising, the aesthetically pleasing pick-a-brick wall proved to be the
favorite gathering place for AFOLs who tediously labored to fill their brick
buckets with geometric, airtight precision.

The opening day crew of the LEGO store consisted of an all-star lineup of LEGO
personnel and friendly store managers from across the nation.  The local manager
and staff were extremely well informed and wore their crisp, yellow shirts with
pride.

Just outside the store, Ashley Glennon, Todd Kubo, Wayne Hussey and Terri
Landers rotated between the mosaic build, the building tables and the MOC
tables, assisting the public and Brandy Gossett in creating a memorable opening
day experience.

Throughout the day, various members of SEALUG, PNLTC, SMART and even some fans
from Canada came to visit the store, making this an international event.

Congratulations to the LEGO Company on another successful store launch. The
Northwest will never be the same!
