well, i have used random plates in the past to emboss as you described, but to be honest, running out of 1x1 plates is not a big concern for me at the moment... I have thousands of the common colors in 1x1 plates. eric (...) (23 years ago, 28-Oct-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

I recently completed a sizable mosaic (about 6' x 8', Studs Out). Like my Mona Lisa I did years ago, this is a rendition of a well known painting: 'Song Of The Angels' by William-Adolphe Bouguereau: (URL) questions welcome, cheers, eric harshbarger (23 years ago, 27-Oct-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic, lugnet.build, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.general) !!

(...) Sorry, its not neccessarily supposed to be pretty, but more of an experiment in the artistic possibility of the BS medium. I think that a more active image might be better suited for this.
