well, i have used random plates in the past to emboss as you described,
but to be honest, running out of 1x1 plates is not a big concern for me
at the moment... I have thousands of the common colors in 1x1 plates.

Ross and I enjoyed viewing your mosaic.  He is building one of his sister to
give to her for her 16th birthday (merely 2 x 3 large baseplates;-) and likes
your signature idea, but wants to know why you didn't raise the signature from
the bottom using random plates and thus conserving 1x1 colored plates. Kids
today....
