Derek, this sounds awesome. And the chosen image is great. (...) It's very well done! Like the layered effect that others have pointed out. Though I would point out that this wasn't the first time the Canadian Flag was 'done up' in flowers... I'd like to make a matching American flag but with the 13 stripes it would either have to have 13 rows, which would leave precious little room for the stars, or 26 rows (or more).
