ElfQuest! Coool. the only comic I've ever bought regularly.
:-)

Many, many years ago (when dinosaurs walked the Earth), I was really into it.

Hehe.. Same here. My wife was more into EQ than I was (she has all the
comics and most of the Jinx series as well), but we both enjoy it and have
most (all?) of the Graphic novels.. there's so many now, I've lost track.
8..10.. a million....?? And we actually met online on one of the EQ MUSHes. :)

I
played the role-playing game, painted the lead miniatures, bought the graphic
novels as they came out, and even got a first issue signed by Richard and Wendy
Pini at a comic convention.

My wife has the RPG and the board game and a poster that I think is signed
and some other stuff. At risk of sacrelidge<Sp?>, I really like the first 4
novels, up until the Seige of Blue Mountain series... then things just
started getting almost too... odd.. for me to follow. Maybe if I took the
time to read more closely I'd understand, but the first 4 novels will always
be my fav's. :)

You must tell more. which characters? how you made them. Did you build wolves?

I never thought of trying this before. cool idea.
just think how much easier it'd be now, with the new Star Wars hair pieces!

Well.. It's been since... wow around '90... so going off memory, about all I
really 'did' was take some of the torso's for the castle peasants of the
time  and put yellow arms on them, to be sleeveless leathers, etc. I made
most of the 'core' characters of the Wolf Riders.

The Forestmen torso's worked well for Scouter, One-eye, Redlance and
Strongbow as I recall.

I also used the open pack from the forestmen for Scouter (it seemed fitting)
and a walking stick that was basically one of the original battleaxes with
the blade cut off.

For One Eye, I used a Pirate head with eyepatch.

I don't remember much about Strongbow (he had a quiver and bow of course)
other than I think I used the red printed forestmen top and brown hair.

Moonshade was a plain blue torso, black legs, a blue knight's cape from one
of the sets of that time and brown female hair.

I kind of cheated on Cutter and gave him a black torso with the printed
armor plate from the Black Monarch's castle so he'd kind of be in his wolf
rider armor from the fight for the castle. I used the black sword from the
armory set to signify New Moon.

I believe I used the white maiden torso with the red pearls from the Guarded
Inn as Leetah's top with blue legs and brown female hair. I also seem to
recall using the 'pirate babe' head but I'm not sure.

Redlance is also kind of hard to recall.. but he was kind of similar to
Strongbow.

For Nightfall, I used the green peasant's top from the forester's sets,
replacing the green sleeves with yellow (again, to be sleeveless), a bow and
quiver and brown female hair.

Pike was made with a gray peasant torso and black legs and brown hair and a
spear.

Treestump was almost the same but with the brown bearded head from the
pirate sets of that time. I also gave him a modified battle axe. the 'spare'
blade from Scouter's walking stick was hotglued to the back of another
battle axe and the handle was cut in half. It kind of made him more menacing. :)

For Clearbrook (one of my favorite characters, not that I can really say
why. She was just always cool to me), I used the green 'pirate babe' top
from the Forester's river crossing with brown hair.

Those are all I can think of for the moment. I plan to revisit these when my
castle building gets back underway. As you mentioned, the Starwars torso's,
hair, and heads will make nice updates to doing this genre.

As for Wolves, no, I didn't have the ambition to try it, though I might next
time. I actually used the wolf that came with one of my old G.I. Joe figures
from the 80's. It was about arm high on them.. and seemed almost the right
scale going by the sizes of the wolves in the GN's. :)

Hope that made some sense. :)

(oh, and congrats on the upcoming wedding!!)

(...) Wow! that's great. (...) That's funny. After seeing your first post, I was struck by idea that (now there's this WWW thing) there may be an ElfQuest website. Well, it sure was easy to find it. Once there I felt in a flashback. I can't believe (...) (24 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build.minifigs)
