I used to paint gaming miniatures (both for wargames and role playing games)
and I know from experience that it would be wicked hard to get the black eye
patches symmetrical in freehand. Since it's such a smooth surface, I thought a
mask might be easier. I had some, umm, problems with it anyway. It all worked
out in the end, though.

Normally I'm not a painter/cutter/gluer either. I still wouldn't ever cut or
glue anything. I felt weird about removing paint and adding more as it was. I
probably wouldn't do it again- this was a pretty singular circumstance.
