Welllll.... I'm not sure I agree. There's quite a long way to go IMO between a
1x4 arch piece and a 5x6 castle wall. There are many pieces that are not quite
generic that I couldn't live without (for example the said arches, as well as
the 1x1 brick w/headlight) and I would NOT call them specialized-- not what
you consider specialized, at least. The Castle wall, as useful as it is, is a
SPUD (1) and I personally don't really like it. I would not put SW heads in
the same category as the castle wall, because I think that the amount of
specialization given to SW heads is just the right amount. It's too bad that
TLC doesn't make all their heads in the SW style, IMHO.

Well here's my POV. Specialization is one thing; SPUDness is another.
Specialization is a good thing; I can't think of any good MOC I've ever made
that wouldn't be incomplete without specialized pieces. (Ouch, too many
quadruple negatives!) ...I'll restate that; my MOCs are unique because they
use specialized pieces *to some extent*. This is the key here, AFA I'm
concerned. Without 2x2 rounds, 1x2x3 inverse slopes, all the convex & concave
& peak 45 deg slopes available, 1x4 arches, 1x2 tiles w/center stud, arched
windows and so many other pieces, my inn (2) would a box. As it is, I can
venture to say it's not a box; I'll even go as far as saying it's something
I'm proud of.

I'd love to see those two!
It really is too bad that TLC stpped making sets like 375 that are beautifully
constructed yet can "become almost anything", as you say. But that does not
mean I don't appreciate other sets, that can't transform majickally into
totally different themes. They can still transform into slightly-relate
themes, for example: a SW set can be used to build a space MOC, a pirate set
can be used to build a castle MOC... etc.

Oh-so-true. It's too bad TLC doesn't realize the potential in slightly
articulated minifigs, but instead overuses the over-articulated ones.

I actually tried Willa under a ninja mask now and it's not too bad. You can't
recognize her, that's a good thing. :-)

| (...) I really like your characters Shiri, particularly the work you've put into their backstories. I think that the contrast between Cleo and Scar is quite telling as well -- one where you had to modify the face because of the rock raiders (...) (25 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.build.minifigs)
