Hey Joel.  I recently caught The Arrow on late night TV a few weeks ago
(about a month or so after the discussion about attempting to build a Lego
version) so I find it interesting that the movie has seemingly appeared out
of the ether not once but twice in a short time period.  The movie was
indeed interesting but the actual events concerning the Arrows developement
and cancellation are even more so.  Still thanks for pointing this one out -
Good Heads Up.

Bryce,

Very much so! I really enjoyed the movie, and while I'm sure (as always)
there were a lot of "Hollywood-ized" bits... the movie left me in amazement.
If Canada had not listened to the U.S. strong arm political tactics, etc...
and if things with the Arrow program had continued as they began.... the
'world as we know' it would undoubtedly be a different place today.
Certainly, it changed my persepctive on Canada's technology base (in a
positive way).

I mean, I realize they do have aero-space industries, etc, but truly - if
everything Avro wanted to do had been done.... wow...  talking about moon
shots some two to three years before the US began its own space program in
earnest?

I'm going to have to try and track down this movie on DVD or VHS -- I have
to wonder how good it is without the 'edited' for television stigma that
plagues even the best movies. The best parts are inevitably gutted in
interest of time and content. bleh.

As far as interesting topic and over all quality, I'd definitely give it two
thumbs up. I thought Dan Akroyd did a very good job as did there rest of the
cast.

But this is turning into a movie review so I'll end here rather than sending
this to .off-topic.fun... :)

(...) I have the original Canadian aired version on 2 VHS tapes. It was shown across 2 nights, each night was 2 hours, for 4 hour total viewing. I don't have 2 VCR's to 'dub' tapes, but would be willing to look into doing something if there's a (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jun-02, to lugnet.build.military)
