Hi all,
My armies are constantly expanding, in preparation for world domination! My two
latest land vehicles have been built for a while, but are being lugnetted and
Brickshelfed just in time for BrickWorld! Any mecha planning to skulk around the
ruins of the AMCP be warned! ;)
The Destroyer Airmobile Assault Gun is the latest in my series of armored
vehicles designed to be compact and light enough to be airlifted into battle.
Like WWII era designers I camme up with a vehicle with a cannon fixed to forward
rather than being mounted in a turret. While the Destroyer has to turn in order
to traverse its main gun, this gives the vehicle a low profile and allows it to
accomodate a larger cannon than a turret could support. The Destroyer can be
used for infantry support but is specifically designed to knock out enemy heavy
armor, and so long as its flanks are covered by supporting units, it is quite
effective. It carries a driver and commander who cooperate in the aiming of the
gun, and a loader.
This kind of vehicle went out of fashion soon after WWII in favor of tanks and
missile armed tank destroyers, but the Swedes built a "tank" a bit like this
during the Cold War. As future designers are challenged to come up with lighter
combat vehicles than the current 60-70 ton tanks, who knows if there may be a
resurgence of assault guns in the future?

The Black Wolf Fast Attack Vehicle is used by small special forces units in need
of a little speed and extra firepower. It carries a driver, a passenger, and two
gunners.
I've wanted to build something like this for a while, but the Black Wolf didn't
end up looking like any of the special forces jeeps or dune buggies I've seen.
It does have a sort of G.I.Joe feel to it, which I do like a lot. And as soon as
I saw the superbad black ski mask minifig heads, I knew I had to pick some up
and put them to good use.

| (...) --snip-- (...) Great work as usual, Magnus. I never cease to be amazed by your ability to combine realism and detail whilst managing to fit figs in your stuff. Impressive. Tim (17 years ago, 18-Jun-07, to lugnet.build.military)
