Hello all,
After being debuted at BrickFest as part of a battlefielf diorama, I have
pix posted of three new armored vehicles.
|
I saw pics of the battlefield diorama - very impressive! Im a big fan of
your tanks.
|
Hey thanks, Im hoping to get some more pix of that up online some time soon!

Very nicely done. Its like a cross between the AAVP and the LAV! Im
impressed with all the features you were able to incorpate into such a tiny
model. Could you provide a pic of the underside? I think I know how you did
the suspension, but I just want to make sure. I will definitely refer back to
this when I work on APCs in the future.
|
Check these out, I hope they make the steering and suspension system clear
enough.

One of the problems with giving it suspension and steering is that the entire
vehicle ends up being much higher than it otherwise would be. But I liked the
way it worked so much that I decided to sacrifice scale for functionality.

My favourite of the three! I can definitely see the influence of the CV90 and
the BMP1. Im amazed it can fit so many figs, as well. The only suggestion I
would make is to get rid of the AT3 Sagger-style missile (its so 1960s -
replace it with tube-fired missiles) and give the main gun a better muzzle
(perhaps by reversing the 1x1 cone). Otherwise, this is an excellent AFV.
|
Thanks for your comments, with this gun I was going for something that looked a
little heavier than a 20 or 30 mm cannon - maybe a 40mm or so. I agree that the
missile system doesnt look very 21st Century, but I think I like it for now.

I love your solution for the turret and the overall design of the barbette.
Ill definitely be copying that. :-)
This is another fantastic model, Magnus. I like everything about it except
for maybe the muzzle. Its okay, but it could use a muzzle brake, such as the
following:
In general, I also think your smoke dischargers are a bit oversized. Have you
seen TONYs WW2 armour
|
Thanks for the link! The challenge is finding something in black, brown, green
or dark green. I knew I wanted a larger cannon, but I thought the 2 by 2
cylinders would look too big.
Im not 100% satified with this vehicle,I couldnt quite decide if I wanted it
to be a artillery piece or a tank, and I think the sloped front and turret bears
that out. I am however quite happy with the interior turret and rear. I could
see myself doing a MarK II version some time.

Continuing from my Warlord motorized tank, the latter two models have a new
camoflague scheme. You may notice looking at my BS account that Im
developing (at least) two different opposing factions. They dont have a
back story or even names yet, but Ive amassed a small army on either side,
and look forward to continue building vehicles for both sides.
|
Cool! I look forward to seeing more military MOCs from you. :-D

Thanks! BTW, I love your Mammoth Next-Generation Hovertank
Having built a motorized tank, the next stpe woudlbe to build something that
fires, although it will be a real challenge to do that in minifig scale. If only
the NXTs were half the size they are now....
cheers
Magnus
