Hello all,

After being debuted at BrickFest as part of a battlefielf diorama, I have pix
posted of three new armored vehicles.

The Wild Boar Armored Personnel Carrier was my attempt at a wheeled APC. To
avoid making it look too generic, and to give it some originality, I added a
second turret. The rear and front wheels can be turned by the little gear at the
back just under the ramp and all eight wheels have suspension. The front windows
have shield that give extra protection when needed. The Wild Boar has a crew of
4 and can fit 7 troops in the back.

The Gladiator Infantry Fighting Vehicle is better armed and armored and has
tracks rather than wheels. I was looking for a design that looked both heavy and
sleek, and was pleasantly surprised to see that I could cram in 8 figs in the
troops compartment. It isn't comfortable, but it doesn't have to be;) The
vehicle crew is 3 and there is a hatch on the right of the turret for supplies
or for a few minifigs to sit in, to get fresh air, fire out of etc.
The missile on top of the main gun was an idea I got from the Soviet BMP1, but I
also was inspired a little by the Swedish CV90, which has a similarly sleek
look. Of all my vehicles, this is one the ones I'm most satisfied with, in terms
of exterior aesthetics.

With the Overlord Self Propelled Howitzer (crew of 5), I finally was able to
come up with a design with space for three guys in the turret. I was able to get
an 8 stud wide interior on a 14 stud wide vehicle that uses the wide technic
treads, by using panels facing outward on the side of the hull. Technic treads
are in fact 2 and a half bricks wide and there is just enough clearance that
there is space for the panel wall in the same brick area as the inside of the
track. I used the same tecnique on the Gladiator IFV and Warlord tank to get as
much space as possible on the inside.

Continuing from my Warlord motorized tank, the latter two models have a new
camoflague scheme. You may notice looking at my BS account that I'm developing
(at least) two different opposing factions. They don't have a back story or even
names yet, but I've amassed a small army on either side, and look forward to
continue building vehicles for both sides.

PLMKWYT!

Magnus

(...) I saw pics of the battlefield diorama - very impressive! I'm a big fan of your tanks. (...) with all the features you were able to incorpate into such a tiny model. Could you provide a pic of the underside? I think I know how you did the (...) (18 years ago, 1-Sep-06, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)
