Hmm... This has me thinking now! Perhaps if I'm seriously going to "compete"
with you I should be working on something Japanese perhaps? Only sucky part is
the difficulty in finding good documentation of non-US or European warships.

Hi Daniel,

Sorry to bust in on the exchange here, but I'd thought I might be able to answer
your question. Military building is not my particular area of brickness
(especially scale), but I was in the U.S. Navy back in the late 1980's and there
are some decent sources on non-U.S. vessels that I came across and some of which
grace my library.

Chief among these, in my opinion, is the series published annually by Jane's
Information Group of Great Britian on naval vessels, better known as "Jane's
Fighting Ships". It scrupulously details everything about every ship in every
navy of the world, from Afghanistahn to Zimbabwe. Dimensions are given for every
class of ship (if known) as well as plans of the main decks for many of these.

For World War II, the title I would recommend highly is "Jane's Fighting Ships
of World War II". You might also want to peruse the Purnell and Sons Ltd series
entitled "History of the World Wars" which are heavy with technical dimensions
and illustrations. If you cannot find them at your local library, perhaps try a
VFW post; a lot of those older gents have extensive military libraries.

BTW, I admire your MOCs very much and have been for several years. I would love
to see a scale LEGO model of the battleships Bismarck or Yamato.

Regards,

- Pat Hough
