OK, I got up early today and managed to get the photos from last weekend's GMLTC
showing in La Crosse posted... including the long awaited (mostly) finished
U.S.S. Missouri model. It's nearly 8 feet long, which prompted me to build a
custom stand for it (incorporating something like 50,000 2 x 4 light gray bricks
in the making). Once the finish touches to the ship are completed, the stand
will be finished off with a plexiglass enclosure.  Anyway... here's the photos
for now...

P.S. The photos were at the very end of the show... otherwise the whole layout
was mobbed with people!

Dan-

As expected, it's gorgeous.  The Ulithi (pacific) 44/45 camoflauge came out
really nicely, though some of the details are hard to make out because of the
shake in the images.  I'm looking forward to seeing more detailed shots taken at
your leisure!  The Bofors mounts look extremely good, and though the 20s came
out a little on the crowded side it gives a lovely impression of the general
obsession with AA characteristic of the era.  The deck is gorgeous and I had to
look several times to make out the "jogs" in deck-studding despite already
knowing they were supposed to be there.  The joint between the hull and the deck
is handled beautifully.

Are there any areas remaining unfinished, where you intend to revisit and
revamp?  I know I shouldn't ask if you're unhappy with anything, but I know
you're a perfectionist, so I will.  :)

Finally, are the turrets motorized?  Does anything "connect" through the base
into the ship, or is it "merely" a (gigantic) stand?  I had no idea the stand
was intended to be that enormous.  Wow.

all best

(...) Lindsay - it's always nice to hear you opinions and thoughts. Being so busy with my work this past year and a hald has left me starved for building / discussion, obsessing over the brick.
