 Building / Military / 1988 (-20)
Oh, wow. Wowowow. (was: Re: Project YAMATO)

(...) Jumpei, That is beautiful. Truly a thing of utter beauty. I am currently planning out a true-minifig-scale model of the battleship Fuso ca. 1944, though I am going closer to 1:35 scale given that minifigs are not truly to human propor- tions. (...)   Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) I personally advocate 1 stud to the foot, which is about 1:38. If the stud size is exactly 8mm then it's 1:38.1. If a stud size is 5/16" then it's 1:38.4. There's little difference between the two, unless you build something 14630 plates high (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) Heh, I've done some checking... (URL) the answer is "whatever you think is right". Minifigs are just built very un-humanly. Very thick front-to-back, very wide, or very short. Or all three. In general, people usually derive scale by minifig (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)

Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) Is 1:40 minifig scale? I'd like to ellicit a wide number of opnions because I'm just about to start building a (much smaller) minifig scale model. I assumed a minifig to be 6ft tall, giving me a ratio of 1 to 46 (rounded). The japanese are a (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

If anyone out there is interested in commanding their own LEGO Starship or Marine Detachment in my universe, you might want to check out the following links where I'm recruiting for Officers to join my fleet of warships.   Project YAMATO

(...) Thank you for your introduction of my project, Bruce. This is my biggest challenge and still under construction. 1/40 Battleship YAMATO It's minifig scale, and it will come to 6.5m (21ft). (URL) It has passed 2 years since I began to build, (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX) !!

Re: Battleship in progress by Jumpei Mitsui

(...) It totally blows me away how people can build sweeping curves using flat, rectangular LEGO pieces!! I can't wait to see the finished product, but the in-progress pics are also really cool to look at. -Bryan P.S. Wow look at all that light (...)   Battleship in progress by Jumpei Mitsui

Hi all, It looks like Jumpei Mitsui has started a huge project to build a fig-scale (URL) Battleship Yamamoto>. You may remember his (URL) model> at a smaller scale, and a (URL) space version>. Anyway, the hull on this new version is a thing of (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats, FTX)

  Re: MOCs: Bunker and Motorcycle

(...) Thanks for the help! I will be sure to size my images more appropriately next time (I should do this any way because having the images super-sized makes my poor photography skills look even worse ;) (20 years ago, 9-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: MOC: F44-03; alternate jet

So what's the coolest MOC ever built using, say, a standard 4496 Creator tub? :-) "Larry Pieniazek" <larry.(mylastname)@...e.DOT.com> wrote in message news:I9qz6M.1Cxs@lugnet.com... (...) one of (...) does (...) play (...) (20 years ago, 9-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: MOCs: Bunker and Motorcycle

(...) Peter, you need to put the URL of the deep link, not the gallery page. Click once more on each pic to get a URL like this: (URL) and then put it in brackets - it will show up like below. But I would also suggest reducing the size of your pics. (...) (20 years ago, 8-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  MOCs: Bunker and Motorcycle

Hello out the there! You (of course) won’t recognize me because I have never posted in this group before! I am looking forward to becoming an active member here.   Re: MOC: F44-03; alternate jet

As with all your models I'm always amazed how well these models look like, using only the parts from a single set. They look great, have a lot of details and often have some functionality in them which make them very attractive.   Re: MOC: F44-03; alternate jet

(...) Thanks Paul for your very kind words (again). I do my best to get the best out of sets to inspire others hopefully. Perhaps I'm able to present instructions for this model too someday. If TLC would commission me then there will be instructions (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.space, lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: MOC: F44-03; alternate jet

(...) If people have this kind of reaction that they find it hard to believe it's made from one set only than I have succeeded the mission. Yeah I know red isn't very appropriate for the real flying machines, but for a toy I think it will do okay. (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)
