I just re-posted the complete building instructions for my Panther kit to the
BOTB Instructions Portal.  These are the same as the printed instructions that
come (came) with the kit.  The actual kit had such a limited run that I felt it
should be posted for all to use.  IT's a pretty complex model and instruction
book, but is quite representative of the final stages of Brickmania kit
production.  The file is a printable PDF download.  Have fun!

Thanks for posting these instructions. I, for one, have admired your models
since you began offering them (even if they were a bit beyond my budget<G>), but
getting to see just how you approached creating one of them was fascinating and
informative on an entirely new level. Simply amazing work.

I did have one thought and/or question about your approach, though, when looking
at steps 13-17.  I noticed that you used the 1x2 brick with technic axle holes
for the anchor points in the chassis and then used 1x2 technic axles to mount
the various suspension assemblies to those bricks.

The question I have is: Did you ever experiment with using 1x2 bricks with the
technic peg holes and then using 1x2 peg-to-axle pins to mount the boggie
assemblies and thereby give the treads some 'suspension' movement? If so, what
led you to go the route you did, making the suspension assemblies fully rigid
and fixed?

I do see that the rear assembly with the 16tooth final drive gear would need to
be isolated to its own assemby if the 24tooth gear and wedge belt wheel beside
it were to be allowed to float. Or that whole assembly could just be left rigid
and the other assemblies be allowed to float, I suppose...

Just a point of curiosity. Thanks again for sharing - now to start assembling
the needed bricks. :)

(...) Joel - sorry for taking so long to reply! I moved shortly after posting the link and this is the first I've had a chance to visit Lugnet since then. I did a lot of of experimenting with floating suspension and ran into all kinds of problems (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.military)
