Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

(...) While I do agree to an extent, I also think there's a LOT to be said for people who take bricks and build with them in such a way you can't tell it's LEGO. Those techniques are a real artform in my mind. Great work, Dan!! (...) Got that right! (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

(...) but I never would've thought to use this on a ship hull. It looks marvelous, although I sort of miss the "legoness" of the pixellated look you'd normally get from a ship's hull. You'd better hurry up and build your minifig scale version before (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

WOW!! Dan this is incredible. You have really captured the curve of the ships hull in an excellent way. Something like this would make a truly innovative kit release. Not to mention a wonderful direction for your WW2 kit line. I can't wait to see (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

Wow. That is beautiful. Aside from the gorgeous line of the hull...just can't stop looking at it...the choice of tan for the deck plating really highlights the topside shape of it. The colour contrast it creates with the AA guns and spar towers (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

Dan, This is beautiful! If the resolution on the photos was a little bit worse I wouldn't believe that was made with Lego bricks. Is the hull all 1x2's? I wonder what the inclusion of 1x3's or 1x4's would do to the shape of the curve. I've seen a (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

(...) OK, I've posted pictures "under the hood." The design is so simple that you'll probably kick yourself for not thinking of it. I have been all week! It will be really easy to render construction plans in L-draw, because the two sides could be (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

(...) It's just over 48 inches (with the flag). I added a top down photo, but it's a fuzzy since I had to take it standing on a chair! Dan (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

Dan, this is a *quantum* leap forward in hull design. I, too, am curious as to how you did it. Construction details would be great! I tremble at the thought of a minifig-scale rendition. -Teddy (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

(...) This looks beautiful! I can't get over how smoothly and effectively the flexing works! What sort of structure is on the inside of the ship to hold the hull in position? How long is the overall model? Any chance we can get a top-down view? (...) (22 years ago, 7-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

USS Duluth - Hull design innovation!

Partially inspired by Mattias Mårtensson's USS Fletcher, and partly out of my own curiosity to attempt a new ship-building technique, I threw together a 1/4 size version of the minifig scale Cleveland Class curiser I've been dreaming about building (...)   Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

(...) See, now these are the goodies I've been waiting for! The WW2 stuff is great and I hope it does really well for you, but I have my hands full with pirates and castles (and I simply didn't respond because I never saw the message until now). (...)   Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

(...) AHH nooo! I gatta say, all this stuff you make is really cool, but i been holding back on buying any of the your awesome Star Wars weapons in hope you'd do something like this, i especially love the AR and AK in shown on your brickshelf (...)   Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

Wow! A very impressive model with a lot of amazing details. Unfortunately a lot of the pictures in the "exposition" section appear to be broken or at least halfway-broken, although the thumbnails look ok. For example 3-takao-todd-02.jpg (...)   Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

(...) I must say i am very happy with it. I'll definately be picking up some of the WWII stuff when it comes out. You'll probably get a second order for blasters from me at some point too. :) Thanks again. Tony (22 years ago, 6-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

This is the best news Jeff. Your SW arms are proudly carried by most of my space characters. Upcoming projects might make your WWII line not only desired, but positively necessary! For any of those out there personally unfamilar with Jeff's (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

(...) That's pretty much par for the course around here, Jeff. But seriously, how much initial response did you expect? Many of us already gushed at length about these designs when you first posted them, especially with a whole forum devoted to them (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

(...) Well that's just superduper--I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads-up! Dave! (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

These are awesome Jeff! I'll definitely be buying them in mass quanitities for my custom WW2 kits and of course my own models (I hope you're able to swing a bulk discount!). People have been asking me for some sort of WW2 accessory pack for a long (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

I love it. Only when I post a negative message, do I suddenly get some interest. That's just too funny. Anyway, now that my little response expirement is done, on to the good stuff. If you would like to see examples of my finished ABS pieces, with (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: WW2 Minifig Accessories

(...) Hey Dave, Jeff actually started in Space ... he's the proprietor of "The Little Armory", the store that sells all of the specatacular Star Wars weapons. To check out the quality and range of his current offerings, check out his shop, which is (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.military)
