I made a leg armature that is strong, easy to build, and doesn't need too
many specialized pieces.
Please note, I goofed on the first and second pic, you'll need four(4)x4
long technic axles, not two.

here's the pics post mod:

Customize accordingly.
Here's an example I hashed out (more pictures soon...)

I designed these as a starting point for doing a reversed knee mech.  I got
so many people telling me how much they'd like to do one, but not sure where
to start.  So, to get you going, some tips:

However you build the body, try to keep the mass centralized around the
hips.  Too  much weight forwards, backwards, or sideways will make any mech
fall over quick.
This model is fairly positionable, so don't be afraid to try poses.
Again, I can't wait to see what you come up with.
I'm not sure how much weight this design will bear, but an Eric Sophie
design probably won't stand.  If you shoot for a model less than a foot
tall, you should be fine.
Whatever you build, have fun and be crazy.  (making stomping sounds
while building tends to help.)

Enjoy!

(...) Mark, Hi. You have an interesting design here. I like the wider structure of the ankle in relation to that "tendon." I think those legs fit your example quite well! ;-) Looking forward to more pics and will hopefully be able to scrounge up the (...) (22 years ago, 14-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) I don't usually build this type, but I'll have to try these bad @$$ legs out. Thanks for the inspiration Mark! (...) (Vrreeeeee... CLANG! Vrreeeeee... CLANG!) Take care, Soren (22 years ago, 14-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.general)

(...) Well, Mark...you've definitely inspired me to give the legs a try. I've already built a pair and also made a shorter pair just to test the idea out. You'll likely see pics by the end of the month. -Dave (22 years ago, 16-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.general)
