Thanks to everyone who took the time to give me some feedback on station 45.
The comments and kudos were quite an ego-stroke. I've been lurking in mecha
for quite a while, and until Brickswest, I was convinced my stuff wasn't up
to par. Eric, Jeff, and Bryce changed my attitude.
I wasn't listening to the imperial-march, but I did play alot of Social D,
and the Conan soundtrack during construciton. This is actually the third in
a series of projects that started with a Laser Tower. The Moonbus appeared
breifly in that diorama as a medical-evac ship. I don't have anymore
pictures of the Mechbus, but I'm working on a battlefield scene now, and it
will probably make an appearance. It was a last minute decision to design
and bring it, and I was amazed when it received the most attention.
I think the most interesting feedback was from the self-described pacifist,
who compared the scene to a nazi propaganda film. All I can say is that
during Brickswest, it was all I could do to prevent the Spyrius war-machine
from annexing the Bay-LTC town. In the end, I had to remove the feul rods
from the Mechbus. (and you thought that train pile-up was an "accident"
caused by dinosaurs). I thought you guys might find it interesting to hear
some of the on-site comments I received from the general public. Most if it
was positive, but I felt a negative vibe from some of the attendees (mostly
train guys), and even from the guest speaker, who took a quick tour on
Sunday morning while I was setting up. Here is a short, but representative
list.
1. It looks like an aircraft carrier
2. We should send those to Iraq
3. Its too violent
4. Look at all the little men, they are all the same!
5. Look, its Star Wars!
6. What is the Main-Line hot weather crowd?
7. Do you have a job?

| (...) on your drop ship, the cannons on the side of the front cockpit(the two light gray ones) i noticed they look a little loose (considering the pieces you used), and if not, how did you not make it loose? the dropship and hull is also very cool, (...) (22 years ago, 1-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
