I have been getting some questions and I realized an update is in order.

At this point in time construction on Jama has been halted.
I intend to use the money and effort to goto Bricks West 2003 in California
rather than spend it on Jama. So at this point I have completed the top half
of the Robot and stopped at the upper Legs.

Upon my return in the spring I hope to continue working on the Mecha until
its completion.

I have included this list of its capabilites and functions.
Please note the following Motor to RCX counts as used in the structure:

RCX1 for the head:

1 motor for up and down head tilt. / worm
1 motor for side to side left and right head turn. / worm
3 sets of John Barnes Hitechnic stuff LED lights
1 Light Sensor
1 Rotation Sensor for the left to right head turn.
Clutch gear fitted into up and down head tilt geartrain to prevent over
rotation - slips upon extreme up and down - prevents breaking geartrain.

RCX2Right for the hand, wrist and elbow. / worm
RCX4Left~

1 motor via Znap flex axle to hand open / close / worm
1 motor and heavy duty z40 torque set up / worm
1 motor elbow / worm
1 Rotation Sensor for Elbow
Wirst can continually spin 360 degrees.
Clutch Gear mounted in Hand Geartrain to prevent over rotation.

RCX3Right for the upper Arm twist, flare and upper shoulder rotate.
RCX5Left~

1 motor upper arm twist - arm swings away and towards main body. / worm
1 motor shoulder flare - arm swings out and in towards main body. / worm
1 motor upper shoulder rotatate - arm lifts and swings back. / worm
1 rotation sensor for the upper arm swing.

RCX6 Main Body

1 motor for the spine bend / worm
1 motor for the main body twist / worm
1 free port TBD - may be used for addition lighting or motorized door
opening for the chest cavity.

The Hips currently contain:

1 motor inner hip rotate. / worm
1 motor upper leg flare. / worm

x2 for Left and Right Legs.

Then once construction continues on the legs, the scheme will be as follows:

RCX7Right for the upper leg rotate, flare, and twist.
RCX8Left~

1 motor inner hip rotate. / worm
1 motor upper leg flare. / worm
1 motor upper leg twsit. / worm
3 Rotation Sensors

RCX9Right for the Knee, ankle bend, and ankle pivot.
RCX10Left~

1 motor knee bend. / worm
1 motor ankle bend. / worm
1 motor ankle pivot. / worm
3 Rotation sensors.

28 Motors 10 RCX a Gaggle of wires. and a host of sensors.
1 Kilo of Coffe and cream.
Plus everyones Blue Technic from around the world.

Every Joint uses Technic Turntables and worm gears as the main bearing.

Jama eyelighting by www.hitechnicstuff.com

Come see the Jamocklaquat in action at the Pavillion during Bricks West 2003!

I have been programming Jama and I gotta say: It's so cool!
When I get a nice short series of movements progammed, I'll take some short
m-pegs of it moving.

Thank you all, I hope to complete Jama soon!

Now I just need a sponsor......;)
I have 6 of the 10 RCX I need and none of the Materials for the Bottom Half
of Jama. It's almost like starting from scratch just to finish it!

How mich does it weigh? (22 years ago, 29-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

(...) It'd be nice if it had some AI. Perhaps a camera in the head, hooked up to a computer, sending messages to the RCXs? If you wanted it more advanced, you could have multiple cameras, plus microphones, a speaker, and maybe more sensors (...)
