i found an idea posted by someone (i can't remember who) who mentioned that
if you cut a small piece (about a centimeter) of a small rubber hose (like
the pneumatic tubing only smaller) and place it in the socket, it increases
friction substantially in the ball joint. the kind of hose i used was the
brown tubing found in the technic destroyer droid. i use it on all 7 ball
joints of my newest mech and it works really well! try it. i'm not sure
what other sets have this kind of tubing, but i can tell you that the
technic figure that came with the pneumatic submarine (it's an old one) has
two yellow hoses that are perfect to use. hope this helps.
