New joint technology, and a new mecha

Hey, everyone! Here is my new Andromeda, my new mecha: (URL) project began early this summer, when I bought a Super Battle Droid. The joints were interesting, but the model didn't seem to utilize them well. I started toying around with combining (...) (22 years ago, 18-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

Chris, this is one of your best mecha yet. The articulation, as always, is nothing short of stellar (well, IMHO anyway). Design wise, I really love the legs, spine, and shoulders. You even sneaked missiles into the hips; you're finally adding (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

Chris this is awesome!! the articulation is fantastic as always, such awesome poses you have there. you used the super battle droid parts so well. This mecha looks so awesome as well, (not saying your old ones don't) so smooth and round. I love the (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

Chris, this is just stellar. I really dig the spiney lower torso and the hips. And your use of the Bionicle feet really works well with this mecha. I also agree with Mladen; I like how you keep features consistent with your mecha. Not only is it (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Wow! I am working on Super Battle Droid MS as well and is it is two shoulders and a head short of being finished! I completely agree with you, the Super Battle Droid set is nice, but with those hinges it could have been a lot better! You have (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

Well, Chris, after waiting forever with only those "sketchy" teasers to satisfy me, I must say that finally seeing this mecha it did not meet my expectations. No chris, it EXCEDED them! I can's believe it! That creation is just amazing. Now that I (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Thanks, Mladen! I'm glad you like it. This mecha doesn't have a skirt because its thighs are so big, and because I've always admired your "skirt free" designs! (...) I'm not sure; Atmospheric flight would be cool, but we'll see. (...) Long (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Thanks, Geordan! I'm just trying to keep up with you and Mladen, with the studless mecha look. I probably would have made this mecha completely studless if Lego came out with 2x3 tiles... (...) Thanks again! Can't wait for your next mecha! (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Thanks, Chris! I tried using other kinds of feet for this mecha, but as it turns out, the bevels and overall shape of the foot help this mecha achieve more realistic poses than the brick versions, so I went with them. "product line" (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Thanks! I can't wait to see what you do with these joints. You're mecha are all so different...one never knows what to expect from Neo-Oz next! ;-) (...) The central region just sort of happened by accident. I'm glad it did, too! I feel like (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! I was hoping you would approve of the final product; after sitting with the model in my room for a couple of months, I beging to grow weary of it. At that point, it's hard to tell how it will be (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

OMG! Dude!!! Professor Snead strikes again! WOW WOW WOW! Shuuwweeet!! Ok, where to begin? Notable Sneadified Mecha points: The Head: Very Snead. I like the flat and rounded contours of the head. The Shoulders: Oooohhhh! Look at the curves and smooth (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Wow! Wow! ok one more Wow! You really used those joints to their fullest! Mr. Snead still reigns supreme as the 'King of joint tech'. I have been trying to use those blasted Alpha Team joints, but you just make them better! Kudos!! out Tony (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Had to make the head look like it belonged on this mecha instead of Eros; the round things were the way to go... (...) Thanks! You know, I used 36 of those rounded 1x2 modified bricks on this mecha? I love that piece! (...) Yeah, after playing (...) (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New joint technology, and a new mecha

(...) Thanks1 I'm glad you like it! (...) Use them! The trick is to use the solid color lightsabers in the axle holes on the SBD joints, then use technic half pins to mate the joint to a brick! I can't wait to see what you come up with; your mecha (...) (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
