Oddly enough, the hooves were the very first part built. I originally wanted
to do cloven hooves that would support the model on the toes, leaving the
heels in the air, but sometimes the bricks build themselves... I came up
with something stable that gave the same impression, so I stuck with it.

In earlier pix (which I may post-- there were quite a few changes made
during construction which some people might find interesting), the neck was
covered in more stuff (tubes, small technic auto wings), but then I could
hardly move it, so away they went.

I'm not sure I follow. It has a technic beam skeleton, to which I attached
plates with half-pins, but I don't think this is what you mean.
