Here it is, The Black Eagle.

Cool. I like it when lego creations seem to come alive.
You really only get this sense with articulated mecha like this,
not solid sculptures.

It only seemed natural to adapt it to mecha.  Besides, I'm a sucker for
things with guns...

The feather design on the wing is very organic and natural looking.
I'd call this the Black Buzzard though, it has a roughness
that is more like that bird, and the shape of the beak.

You're right about the beak.  Eagle's aren't quite so pointed.  It would be
more appropriate to level it off then have the front of the beak drop almost
straight down.  This sacrifice in shape is a balence of minimal amount of
brick weight.  There are six click hinges holding his head up and I didn't
want to push the weight up too high.  Though now you got me thinking, maybe
I'll fool with it...
I think that and the color scheme make you think of a buzzard.  Black
Eagle's colors are very close to a Turkey Vulture, except for the tail and
head. The wing shape however is all wrong for a buzzard.  When flying
Buzzards have a much wider wingspan and when viewed from below, look like a
"T" with square wings and more squared off tail.

It circles over battlefields looking for wounded mecha to finish off.

I also envisioned screaming attacks from the heavens plucking mecha off the
battlefield.  Finishing them off with a fusion powered cutting torch in the
beak.  Also useful for cutting through capital ship hulls.

It should have small transparent red eyes, more birdlike.

"K"

Actually, Eagle's eyes are golden with a black pupil.  I did fool with a red
eye in the first version, then I got some of those Jack Stone trans pieces
in the new alpha team, and decided they'd be much better.  Now the Eagle has
binocular vision, my wierd radar dish eyes looked funny in that respect.

Thanks for the  feedback!
