Here it is, The Black Eagle.  The Snow Leopard Clan's newest air/space
superiority mecha.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=10810

Black Eagle has a 43.5 inches wing span, 138 studs.
Length is 26 inches, 82 studs.
Height is variable at 4 inches with dorsal gun and talons retracted and 10
inches tall with both extended.

Head moves side to side, up and down.  (I found a use for the McDonalds
Bionicle bodies!)
Tail pivots side to side and up and down, not unlike a real bird's tail.
Wings flap at the body.  Has a fairly good range of motion.
Click hinges on wings and neck, 32.
Legs fold up onto body and can be released by catch sticking out of body.  A
pneumatic spring piston provide the power to push and hold the legs in place.

OH MANNNNNNNN!!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST MECH EVER! Well, maybe, anyway! I just LOVE this! Looks like it came right out of Battle of the Planets! The building skills demonstrated here are, of course, lovely, but the idea of it is absolutely superior-- (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.space)

LOL! This really something original... ;-D Great job as always Mark. I love the weapons you managed to "sneak" in. The cockpit is cool too, sorta reminded me of the one found on Metal Gear REX (of course this happens quite frequently to me). :-) (...) Hey that is sweet. Orginal and funny as hell. :-P Mah only rant: The body of the eagle is a little square like, slopes work wonders! Nice job though. :-P (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.space)

Mark, man...that's awesome. very non-mecha looking. great to see something different that is done so superbly. very nice. i like the sort of non-artificial look to it. there are alot of humanoid mecha, lots of machine looking, and several animal-ish (...) That's very cool. It reminds me of Anthony Sava's dragons. It and my Black Widow Spider mech would look very cool in a giant robot menagerie zoo :) Adrian -- www.brickfrenzy.com (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC. Black Eagle Mech

(...) You really only get this sense with articulated mecha like this, not solid sculptures. The feather design on the wing is very organic and natural looking. I'd call this the Black Buzzard though, it has a roughness that is more like that bird, (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Now that is one cool mecha, hehe, awesome, it looks like it has really good articulation, and all of it is mechanized too, just too cool, This is such a clever idea too, I mean, I would never have thought to take a bird of prey to mecha. hehe, (...) (...) Not only interesting but quite sizable as well, very nicely done :) (...) With so much said about this model, I don't think I can provide any new constructive commentary. I am looking forward to your next creations, I like mocs build out of (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.space)
