Nice!  Now this is how its done :)

I destroyed 01 to build this new model (05).
It expands on the joint technology of 04 with the
addition of very strong geared knee joints
(rather than a triangular locking arm arrangement).
My subsequent ground attack gundam 06 (gray and blue)
will use even more advanced gear driven knee and ankle joints
with throwbot gear boxes.

Interesting, I have been toying with the throwbot gear boxes for the past 3
months and I am not happy with the end result.  There seems to be 2 to 3 degree
freedom of free rotation allowed in the gear because the worm gear is a tad too
far out (at least these are the results I have been getting with my
experimentations).

That will be my final Gundam. • :(
I think my next theme will be 70's retro style super robots
using this technology.

I will be dead honest hear, I have no idea what is a 70's retro style super
robot.  Could please throw in a few names of what you have in mind?

I'll build a "good guy" robot, and a variety of "bad
guy" robots for it to clobber with its rocket punch.
The "good guy" robot will of course periodically lose and need to be rebuilt
into a more powerful version (in a suspenseful two part episode).

Well this sounds like fun!  Let the fun begin!

Have fun!
Bobby (NOM)

P.S.
I promise not to post anything more today :)

(...) I've found that the throwbot gear boxes eliminate the usual sliding of the worm gear on its shaft, making joints more solid. But the real secret to using them to make a super rigid joint is... nope, can't tell you ;-) (...) Mazinger, Getta (...) (23 years ago, 17-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
