Those ankle joints look great but can they withstand the torque?
The torso looks hefty, the hips and legs might double that.
I don't think you've made anything this large
that stands on two feet before.
There'll be a lot of torsion as well as compression.
The ankles need to be the strongest joints in the whole body.
Even if the joints bend under load without breaking,
too much bend makes them ineffective at maintaining a
playful pose like your smurf bot.

True. I do have one of those robo rider worm gear boxes in the ankle though. (URL) shocks only take up a little of the slack, I figure if the weight starts to prove beyond the ability of the joint I'll add another set of shocks at another angle or (...) (23 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Gents, the little place where I store my temp. pix is drying up. So I thought I'd post the pix to BS.
