I needed a different color though, as
most of the other normal colors had been used, so I decided to see what sort
of a mech I could build using almost exclusively orange bricks.

Great choice!

  The Kierbis
is the result.  It's entirely orange, except for the hinges.  Take a look.

The Kierbis page:

Enjoy!

I really like it as well! good use of orange. You've also managed to use
some pretty neglected parts in there as well which is a good thing mind you.

This looks great, Adrian, and a spectacluar first origami.

I second that!

Are the shoulder and hip joints just 1X1 plates with clips on 1X2 plates
with handles? Do you find this overly fragile?

I used this technique extensively on my Gladiator
mech(http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5105),
it worked very well and held together nicley. I don't want to speak for
Adrian though.

There are some great orange models on the Zizy page from Japan
(http://www1.linkclub.or.jp/~zizy/index.html), if you want to compare
similarly colored models.

I love the photography on that site! first time I've checked it out. Great
models too!

Great job Adrian!

(...) Aw, dagnabit! I wanted to squeeze the horse pull harness part into my last mech, but couldn't pull it off. This looks great, Adrian, and a spectacluar first origami. He's got a good, thin look, something I'm havng a hard time pulling off (...) (23 years ago, 6-Jul-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
