If you want a real beam of light, i know of thin neon tubes that might fit
the bill. They sell them for radio controlled cars and are powered by a 9v
battery. it should be the appropriate size for your gundam and cast a nice
glow to the surounding objects.
I can't remember the manufacturer but you might find it at your local hobby
store or on the web.
