Wow, it's huge!  That shoulder mounted cannon rocks!  Very Gundamesque.  I'm
looking forward to more pictures!

news:FrJx0H.7D5@lugnet.com...
Hi everyone,

I have made my trip home, and I have good news.

1) My brother, who is entering high school in the fall, has bequeathed the • Lego
collection to me. Until now, it has been a gigantic pile of mixed parts of • both
our Lego collections, and it has resided at my parents' home... 1500 miles • away
from me (doh!) since I left for college 8 years ago. I am now taking • possession
of it (hooray!) and I plan to sort it into bins eventually.

2) While I have been home, I have been building fervently, and I have • created,
IMHO, the finest Lego creation of my 20 years of building.I want to thank
everyone in lugnet.build.mecha and lugnet.space for all the inspiration I • have
gained from looking at their designs.

Recently, I posted a sketch to my website showing my plans for a mecha. • This
week, I have built that mecha: The HM-9 Heavy Assault Mecha. I have • uploaded one
image to my website, and other images will follow early next week as I • have time
to rebuild my website.

So, without further ado,

http://www.nwlink.com/~sandlin/lego

A few notes:

1) Yes, it does stand on its own, though very precariously :)

2) I tried to build Colin's hands, but I didn't have enough 1x4 hinges. I
compromised by using the "thick" 1x4 hinge, and it looks ok.

3) The arms and legs are made from ThrowBots joints. There are Technic • friction
pins at the shoulders and ankles. Everything else is TB joints. I managed • to
cover them up fairly well, but you can see a bit of blue peeking out.

4) The chest section slides forward to expose the cockpit.

5) The picture on my website shows the HM-9 with the modular PBC-2 • mecha-mounted
particle beam cannon. When I next update my website, You will see photos • of the
HM-9's internal missile loads and the MT-5 Mecha Booster Unit. (something • for
you mecha nuts to look forward to. :) )

Thanks again to everyone for all the advice and inspiration!

~Mark
