"Osiris Surprises Galaxy with Late-Night Announcement"

OSIRIS- Barely one day after unveiling the P-12A Predator security drone to
the public, Osiris Mechworks stunned the world in a highly secretive,
late-night press conference. Our own John Akai was fortunate enough to be
selected for the event. He reports:

"So here I was, getting ready for bed and dreading the early-morning
flight ahead of me, when I got a call from a woman claiming to be a PR rep
from Osiris Mechworks. "Congratulations, Mr. Akai," she said, "You've been
invited to a meeting with Bill O'Brien. There is a taxi waiting for you
outside the hotel. Please hurry, you'll enjoy this." And with that, she hung up.
I was confused, to say the least. Another conference with Osiris? What
could they be doing now, after yesterday's big event? And why was the
President himself going to be there? I was curious.
The only thing I could think of on the ride over was that maybe this had
something to do with the infamous Project M. As most of you probably know by
now, a blurry thermalscan

was released last week, and the industry has been waiting for an answer to
the mystery surrounding O'Brien's pet project.
When I arrived, I was surprised to find so few press workers at the site.
There were at most ten of us standing on the expansive (and rather spooky)
tarmac.

Suddenly and seemingly from out of nowhere, Bill O'brien appeared and
greeted us. As he thanked us for coming, a few utility trucks pulled up, and
Bill invited us aboard. We traveled for nearly ten minutes across nothing
but poorly-lit pavement before we stopped at a guard station, where O'Brien
took some time to show off one of his new Predators, dozens of which patrol
the Osiris complex already.

We went futher down the path, and as we came over the last hill we finally
saw Project M in all its glory. Kind of. What we had arrived at was a giant
black sheet draped over a huge shape, with a pair of feet sticking out the
bottom. O'Brien climbed onto the roof of the truck he was in and cleared his
throat.
"Ladies and gentlemen, you are about to see the future of warfare."
O'Brien grinned his crazy, little-kid grin. "This is the largest, most
powerful unit ever built by Osiris Mechworks. I give you - the Moloch!" The
curtain dropped, blinding lights came on overhead, and the few of us
standing there looked at the future.

And then the most powerful man in the galaxy did something that surprised
all of us: he told us to go home. "This is all you get to see tonight,
kids," he said, again with that crazy grin. "There will be an official
unveiling soon - I don't want to give everything away at once." We all
thought he was crazy, but we did what he said. I went back to my hotel room
thinking I had just witnessed the worst publicity stunt in history.

Anyway, after all that happened last night all I have to show for it is a
few crummy photos, and most of those are of O'Brien. Hmm... I guess he knew
what he was doing all along."

More on this story as it develops.

Looks interesting, and very, VERY cool... the pic is a bit blurry, but I'll bet that was your plan... stimulate interest by letting people imagine what it will actually look like. I'm glad you came up with such an intricate backstory for it, and how (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
