I see you're using double throwbot limbs at the shoulders. Does that work
well? How much weight does it support?

~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin

Hey there, Mark! As one of the few who has actually held Big Blue and the
face of things yet to come, I can tell you that these are incredible
masterpieces. The Throwbot limbs don't appear to be able to hold much
weight, but doubled up throwbot arms can support an INCREDIBLE amount of
stress that no conventional joint articulation (that I've seen so far) can
support. Keep in mind that Big Blue is nearly two feet tall. The joints
allow for strength and mobility in a model this size. What amazed me was how
well Bryce managed to disguise the joints. I didn't notice them until I went
looking for them and boy was I surprised.

Keep in mind that Bryce uses only 2 Throwbot parts (that I've seen) in his
creations: The double balled 'L" arm and the 270 degree socket. NO locking
sockets are used, as they just aren't strong enough (though I'm working hard
to disprove this).

Want to test out the strength/mobility factor? Try this: take 2-270 degree
sockets and join then together side by side. Repeat this step again with 2
more sockets. Join them together with the 'L' arms. That's it. a complete
Bryce McGlone mecha joint. Needless to say, I like the method so much that
I'm working it into the neverending mecha project: Belle. She'll support the
weight needed this time....

PS-Bryce, you were right. Granite is the best Throwbot for your purposes.
Heck, the tan parts are actually starting to grow on me...<groan> Now, if I
only had more of those dark grey 'L' arms....

(...) Dave, Thanks for the reply. I think you explained the double joint thing better than I ever could. The bummer is that now I get to compete with you for pieces :-) Oh and one last thing...Ninja swords!!! I need 14. Please call. Bryce McGlone (24 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)
